Hi! I’m Kevin! I’m originally from Chicago, IL but I’m currently residing in Austin, TX! I began my adventure into game development by beginning work on the Awakening of the Rebellion mod while studying programming at university. During this time I realized I could use programming as a tool to help me build immersive and engaging games.

Today I am a Game Designer with 8 years of experience with a background PC games, Mobile, and Land Based Casino Slots. I enjoy many aspects of the game design process including: Gameplay, meta feature design, level design, and AI scripting.

Some of my favorite types of games are Real Time Strategy, First/Third Person Shooters, Sandbox RPGs, and Racing games. I play a lot of multiplayer games to satisfy my competitive side but also enjoy challenging my logical side with some single player strategy games. Outside of playing and building games, you can find me at a car meet, playing X-wing miniatures, or walking my dog Daisy.


 PROJECTS

star wars : Awakening of the Rebellion Mod

Awakening of the Rebellion is a passion mod project that was my first main jump into game development. It is a total overhaul of the game Empire at War. New missions, units, galaxy map, and complete combat redesign. It is popularly regarded as one of the most challenging and authentic experiences you can have from an Empire at War mod.

What I did: I am the Project Lead since 2013, and shape the direction of the mod’s overall gameplay and plan release schedules. I use my professional game development experience to help design, manage, and grow my team. I take on multiple design roles such as AI scripting, creating GDDs and TDDs, mission crafting, meta feature design, combat loops, and unit roster development. I also assist in 3d asset creation and audio work.

Team: 9 Core Developers and on average 15 contractors
Awards: Top 10 ModdB award for 2019, Top 100 ModdB award for 2017,2018. Top 5 mod on Steam Workshop.

Secrets of the Jaguar

What I did: Designed and Prototyped the main “Symbol Chain” feature, which was a branch new feature for the industry. Crafted the symbol design, feature flow, and payouts geared towards a highly volatile gambler experience.

What I did: Senior Developer on the LiveOps Event System. Crafted the basis for the player experience for our challenge system, scripted the display systems, and enhanced the system with additional challenge types, minigame rewards, and in-app store integration.

Payback’s a Birch

What I did: Prototyped and Developed the enemy AI system, classes, and behaviors. Created the main combat loop for the player including player abilities, attack moves, and player controls. Also designed the main menu system flow and UX.
